 At times Windows users get the error “the destination already contains a folder named…” when they attempt to copy a folder to a particular location. Reboot the Windows Explorer


You should follow these guidelines given below:


Navigate to the Taskbar, and right-click on it.

Click on the Task Manager.

Beneath the tab of Processes and go to the Windows Explorer and click on the End the task option.

Do not shut the Task Manager yet.

Select the File option from the primary menu and then select the ‘Run new task’ option.

You have to insert ‘explorer.exe’ into the command line and mark the box of ‘Create this task with administrative privileges.’

Now, select the OK button and shut the Task Manager.

Look for Hidden Files


You should follow these guidelines given below:


Launch Windows Explorer on your system.

Thereafter, reach the primary menu and click on the tab of View.

You should mark the box of ‘Hidden items.’

Finally, check if there is any conflicting file or folder of the same name.

Run System File Checker


You should follow these guidelines given below:


Go to the Windows Search section on your system.

After that, insert ‘cmd’ in it then select the OK button.

Reach the ‘Command Prompt and run it as an admin’ option and right-click on it.

Once you reach the command line, input ‘sfc /scannow’ and select the OK button.

You have to wait to finish the scan process and reboot the system.

Now, attempt copying the problematic folder or file once again.

Check the Storage for Errors


You should follow these guidelines given below:


Go to the This PC icon over the Desktop.

Thereafter, select the USB flash drive or HDD, and right-click on it.

Choose the Properties option.

You should click on the tab of Tools.

Beneath the section of Error Checking, select the Check button.

Scanning for Malware


You should follow these guidelines given below:


Go to the ‘Windows Security Center’ and launch it.

Thereafter, click on the ‘Virus & threat protection’ option.

Then select the ‘Advanced scan’ option.

Navigate to the ‘Offline Scan’ option then choose the button of ‘Scan now.’

Allow the scanning process to get over.
